Here at medicine VCF, we believe in translating our faith into living a Christ-like life in our workplace and in our school. We do this as a community when we gather for worship and fellowship every Tuesday 6 pm at the Science Foyer. We then usually break up into 5 contact groups for an in-depth bible study session lead by our contact group leaders.
This is when we plunge deep into the Word, examining the biblical basis for our faith and what discerning what God is trying to say about issues and challenges of our time. In the past year, we completed a series of bible studies on work. This year, we will tackle the issue of holiness before we embark on our studies on Genesis.
“VCF has helped me grow in my Christian faith, by showing me the relevance of my faith in university life. It has helped me continue to grow and strive to seek GOD, and to be ‘effective salt and light’ for Him ‘on campus and in society’!” - Koo Yu Xuan, M3
Oriented towards finding a practical way to bring Christ to our workplace, we have also bimonthly talks: Christian Medical Education (CME). This is where we invite seniors and doctors who have walked the path before us to come and share with us their struggles and their journey of being a Christian doctor. Issues discussed are pertinent to our view of medicine, such as Suffering and Illness, and Christian Ethics. We hope to challenge conventional mindsets of the doctor's role in society, and hope that this would serve as a platform for mutual encouragement and growth.
And perhaps, the most precious aspect of medicine VCF is the fellowship. Comprising students mainly from the medicine and nursing faculty, we all share similar struggles and problems and it is here in VCF where we can freely share and discuss the issues we encounter. It is especially encouraging to have a senior's listening ear and heart-warming to see God working through the different batches of students as we all seek to bring glory to Him.
“VCF is very special to me because it has played such an integral part in my uni life since yr1. It’s a place where everyone is so open about sharing their struggles in life and as a cg, we encourage each other in our walk with God and are constantly challenged to press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called us heavenward in Christ Jesus.” - Christelle, M5
So do join us in our fellowship and share our vision to be salt and light on this world on campus, and even upon graduation, to strive to carry the frangrance of Christ wherever we go.
